How do you look at a simple yard and than transform it into something great? You can add a water feature. Water features will transform any ordinary yard into something marvelous as well as cover traffic noise, creating a peaceful and tranquil environment. Water Fountains
Water fountains are most likely the easiest water features to add to your yard. You can choose from a wide variety including stand alone water fountains and wall hung fountains. With most fountains all you need to do is place them in the spot you want them, than fill with water and plug them in.
Small Ponds
Small ponds are a little more involved, take more work and planning but are still easy to do for the do it yourselfer. You can find kits online or at your local home improvement store. To install a pond you will need to dig a hole in your picked location. Ponds are normally only a few feet deep but it is still a lot of 
work to dig out all of that soil. Next you will either line the hole with a flexible pond liner or insert a formed hard plastic liner. Then add rocks and a pond filtration system. After treating the water, you can then add plant life and even fish if you so desire.
Waterfalls
If you are wanting a more exotic look than a basic pond, you could install a waterfall. This type of installation is a bit more complicated and you may need to contact a professional landscaper.
You can even add a waterfall feature to a swimming pool landscape. They will make your ordinary pool into a beautiful piece of art.
